Emirates Air Line

Comm, Thames

13 September 2012 • View of the Royal Docks while travelling north across the Thames. Also called the Emirates Cable Car, the ride crosses the River Thames between the Greenwich Peninsula (the boarding point being near North Greenwich Underground Station) to the Royal Docks (which is a short walk from Royal Victoria DLR Station). Cabins arrive every 30 seconds and each flight takes about 10 minutes each way. The one-kilometre (0.62 mi) gondola cable crosses the Thames, supported on three 90 m (300 ft) supports.

13 September 2012 • View of the O2 Arena (originally called Millennium Dome) while travelling south in the cable car. Canary Wharf Tower, surrounded by the other tall office blocks, can be seen in the background.

13 September 2012 • Zoom view of the some of the supports for the Dome.ON the far right is the Ontario Tower – the tallest of the apartment blocks on the New Providence Wharf estate.

Blackfriars Station Looking East

24 January 2017 • Looking east from the southbound platform of Blackfriars Station. Ever since the new station was built passengers have been treated to one of the finest views on the Thames. The morning was foggy and so Canary Wharf Tower is seen through the mist as it stands tall, surrounded by the other office blocks on the Isle of Dogs. They are so large that it is not immediately obvious that they are about two miles from Blackfriars Station. In the foreground is the Millennium Bridge with Cannon Street Railway Bridge behind it and the twin towers of the old Victorian Cannon Street Station on the left. Part of Tower Bridge can be seen in the distance.
